Pharmacy TechnicianThis position requires availability Monday through Friday, with shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, and 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Candidates must be flexible to work any or all shifts as needed, totaling 40 hours per week.Weekend work is not required, but candidates should be available for holiday coverage if necessary.The Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in assisting with the preparation, mixing, compounding, dispensing, and control of medications and pharmaceuticals. This role requires effective interpersonal skills for collaboration with fellow technicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other staff members to complete job tasks efficiently.Assist in preparing, mixing, compounding, and dispensing medications.Follow established policies and standard operating procedures of the department.Maintain accurate and organized records of medications.Utilize pharmacy automation software and technology effectively.Drive to designated locations for medication deliveries as needed.A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician is required.Retail pharmacy experience is mandatory.At least 6 months of current or past inpatient hospital experience is required.Demonstrated ability to mix both hazardous and non-hazardous compounds is essential.Certification as a Pharmacy Technician by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required.A valid Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician registration is necessary.Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate fractions, ratios, and decimals, are essential.Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a good moral character without any drug-related felony convictions.Must possess a reliable vehicle for transportation as needed.Familiarity with pharmacy and hospital computer systems.Ability to operate pharmacy automated medication dispensing systems.Experience with laminar air flow hoods and IV room equipment.Proficient use of ancillary equipment necessary for daily tasks, such as syringes, needles, and calculators.Utilization of communication tools such as Vocera Badge.All time-off requests must be included during the application process, as additional requests will not be approved later.
